By Jon Sands, Programme Officer at Resolve Poverty
We have just launched the Bolton Money Advice Referral Tool (MART), which means we now have borough-specific MARTs in seven Greater Manchester boroughs.
This has been developed by Resolve Poverty in partnership with Bolton Council and a wide range of local organisations who provide services and support to people who are struggling financially.
The Bolton MART is designed for use by any organisation that engages with people who are struggling financially but where money guidance is not the organisation’s area of expertise. It does this by guiding the user through a conversation about the person’s specific money problems, requiring them to make very few, and very limited, choices. The outcome is that the user can confidently identify an appropriate expert organisation to refer the person onto with the aim of maximising their income. The MART is free to use and will be updated regularly to ensure the detail remains current.
You can access the Bolton MART on our MART webpage. When you download the MART we will ask you to register basic details so that we can keep you up to date with any changes. There is also an interactive online version. If you would like printed copies, or have any queries about it, please contact me at jons@resolvepoverty.org.
On the MART webpage you’ll find a brief explanatory video along with a short user guide. We are also offering free online training sessions if you want further guidance on how to use the Bolton MART and on how to have a conversation with someone about financial difficulties. You can register for these using the following links:
- Thursday 18 July, 10am-11am (open to all)
- Tuesday 6 August, 2pm-3pm (open to all)
- Monday 19 August, 2pm-3pm (Bolton CVS member organisations only)
- Monday 2 September, 2pm-3pm (school staff only)
- Tuesday 3 September, 11am-12pm (open to all).
