By Penny Rimmer, Senior Policy Officer at Resolve Poverty
Resolve Poverty recently completed research commissioned by Cambridgeshire County Council to support the deliberations of the Cambridgeshire Poverty Strategy Commission.
This work aimed to explore the lived experiences of residents and provide evidence-based insights to shape local anti-poverty efforts. The Commission was set up by local partners to explore how the system could work more effectively to address poverty, recognising that no single organisation has the ability or capacity to tackle poverty alone.
Engaging with 95 residents from across the county, the research provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by local communities, the changes they wish to see in the local system and the positive work being done to prevent and mitigate the impact of poverty across the county.
Through a series of in-person workshops and online sessions, participants shared their experiences with housing affordability, access to essential services, and the rising cost of living. These insights have shaped strategic recommendations for the Cambridgeshire Poverty Strategy Commission, focusing on improving access to support, enhancing community engagement, and addressing systemic barriers.
Resolve Poverty is proud to have contributed to this important project, helping to ensure that the voices of residents inform local strategic approaches.
