📅 Thursday 13 March 2025 📍 Manchester Hall
A conference on working locally to end poverty nationally
Local places and regions have a central role to play in resolving poverty. Our conference will bring together people across the country who want to know what more we can do to tackle poverty and boost household incomes at a local and regional level. We will share our expertise on what works at a local and regional level, and hear insights from leading experts on effective policy and practical responses to poverty.
The conference takes place at a crucial moment in the fight against poverty, with a new national child poverty strategy being published spring 2025. This will be the first time that there has been a meaningful anti-poverty strategy at a UK Government level for well over a decade. We will explore what this means for local places and regions and how it can be used to strengthen and scale up local anti-poverty initiatives.
Join us to explore:
What does this mean for those working in and with the local public sector?
How can VCFSE, universities and housing providers play their part?
How can local stakeholders use a national strategy to empower, complement and strengthen anti-poverty initiatives?
How do public sector bodies, health services and combined and regional authorities fit into local responses to poverty?
